DevOps engineer in Barcelona

The Data Streaming team manages a vast number of Apache Kafka clusters for our marketplaces around the world. The data we collect is essential to our business as it feeds marketplaces with low-latency (“realtime”) updates, visitor insights analysis and targeted advertisement.

We solve exciting problems at scale by building technologies around Kafka, like APIs, monitoring and authentication & authorization systems, and sending up to 60 billion events (messages) daily while keeping users’ privacy and data security in mind. We also develop data services on top of our Kafka platform, providing capabilities like data catalogue, lineage and IAM.

What you’ll do

As a DevOps Engineer in the Data Streaming team, you’ll have the opportunity to build a critical, state-of-the-art data transport layer that is the backbone of data exchange in Adevinta marketplaces.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain and operate a global product

• Build and design technical solutions from scratch

• Code and improve our APIs, documentation and availability of our systems

• Help to improve our ways of working and communicate best practices

• Continuously monitor the health and quality of our systems

• Support the team with high-level tech decisions, share knowledge and raise blockers and needs from the rest of the organisation

Who you are

• Assertive, empathetic, a team player, fair, honest, humble

• Experience in building and maintaining highly available systems

• A good understanding of best practices for developing software (version control, CI/CD, automation, pair programming, documentation, testing, …)

• Experience working with the Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)

• Expertise with Linux-based systems (we like low-level stuff, ebpf, etc.)
