As a Technical Writer, you will collaborate with software developers, product managers, community members, other documentation authors, and technical support engineers to develop clear documentation for complex technical topics. You’ll be part of our effort to establish documentation as a first-class engineering discipline.

What you will do

  • Create, in coordination with the development team, the Release Notes of the new OpenNebula versions.
  • Coordinate and maintenance of Tutorials, User Guides and White Papers to help improve user experience.
  • Work closely with the Content & Community team to help them deliver White Papers, coordinating the content contributions, as well as maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the technical teams to improve and elaborate better Knowledge Base articles for customers.
  • Support our EU-funded innovation projects by helping in the edition and production of their Deliverables.
  • Challenge and advance documentation understanding and best-practices across the whole company.
  • Help standardize the structure, presentation, style and language of technical content across products.
  • Lead and engage the OpenNebula Community to coordinate efforts around localization, ensuring coherence and quality.

What you will bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • Proven experience of content production associated with a technology product (documentation, blog, articles, etc).
  • You care deeply about functional written communication.
  • You are a technical writer with a programmer’s mindset, or a programmer with a record of producing excellent documentation.
  • Has a record of community engagement, in open source software, documentation, research or other disciplines.
  • You are sympathetic to the needs and challenges of open source projects and its communities.
  • You have technical curiosity and are fascinated by technology and its challenges.
  • Demonstrable documentation skills, insight and enthusiasm.
  • Professional experience in software development contexts (e.g. with Git, markup languages, etc.)
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
