As of now, we are looking for an Engineering Manager of Developer Experience in Core-Technology!

Together with your SRE team in the central core-tech domain, you will plan and implement measures for improving the availability and scalability of our platform, and build services and tools. You'll drive and develop our observability tech stack that helps the development teams in their day-to-day work to prevent, minimize, and mitigate any potential issues.

Our customers are the development teams at FREENOW, who we support with building, running, and maintaining highly scalable services. We build in-house and self-service tooling and we take care of aspects like monitoring, alerting, logging, metrics, CI/CD, and configuration management. Ultimately we care for the availability, reliability, stability, and scalability of our product. We closely work with the developers to address these needs and while able to jump-dive into any specific issue we always keep the overall system in mind.

We help with troubleshooting and debugging with our expertise and knowledge throughout the entire tech stack.

YOUR DAILY ADVENTURES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for the SRE team.
  • Ensure proper team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Implement and drive SRE best practices and lead your team in daily agile devops practices.
  • Manage the on-call team and the incident process including the post-mortem aftermath.
  • Identify areas for improvement and propose solutions that align with business goals.
  • Identify and assess risks to production systems and work to mitigate them.
  • Optimize resource allocation and usage for operational and cost efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of SRE to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our production system.
  • Promote continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Work closely with development, product, and other engineering teams to ensure reliability is prioritized in the development lifecycle.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding reliability metrics and measures, post-mortems, and incident action items.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

  • Love learning new technologies and thrive in solving complex challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively across teams
  • Strong understanding of software development principles, systems architecture, cloud infrastructure, and monitoring technologies
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of network, databases, system administration, Version Control, CI/CD automation
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (preferably Java/Kotlin, Go, Python).
  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems, with excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience in software engineering
  • Knowledgeable with container-based technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or EKS.
  • Knowledgeable with modern web services architectures and cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP.
  • Knowledgeable with observability, monitoring, and alerting tech stack such as ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, OpsGenie, DataDog
  • Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills in complex Unix/Linux systems environments and application implementations.
