The Red Hat Product Technical Learning (PTL) team is looking for an expert in software containers, container orchestration, and devops automation to join us as a Technical Curriculum Developer. In this role, you'll help create and maintain our labs and curriculum for instructor-led and self-paced courses on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and related products. You will become a subject matter expert and author courses, including: guided exercises/hands-on labs, supporting text, write scripts and code, develop test automation, and more. Previous experience as a system administrator, cloud architect, technical developer, consultant, or instructor is very useful. You will need solid technical writing skills and will be asked to provide a writing sample.

What you will do

  • Work alongside other team members in an agile development workflow to deliver Red Hat training and certification offerings in a timely manner and consistent with quality standards
  • Create new courses and update existing course materials in collaboration with subject matter experts and key stakeholders
  • Write clear, concise chapter narratives and develop real-world and use-case based examples, guided exercises, and hands-on lab materials
  • Build, deploy, and maintain automation scripts and pipelines.
  • Learn new skills and technologies quickly in order to become a subject matter expert
  • Engage and participate in the Communities of Practice and the Red Hat Learning Community

What you will bring

  • 2+ years of industry experience in at least one of these areas: infrastructure, virtualization, cloud, containers, or software development
  • Practical experience with Linux container and container clustering technologies like Kubernetes, Swarm, Podman, Buildah, Docker, or Open Container Initiative (OCI) Project
  • Ability to quickly learn new programming languages, libraries, and tools
  • Experience with DevOps automation and pipelines, using tools like Git and GitHub, and continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) such as TravisCI or Jenkins
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with an emphasis on technical writing skills; additional languages are a plus
  • Ability to interpret customer business problems and technical issues and effectively explain how a Red Hat solution will align to identified challenges or requirements
  • Motivated with excellent interpersonal skills, including working as part of a global team

 

The following are considered a plus:

  • Container-as-a-Service (CaaS) or Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) experience using Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Container storage such as GlusterFS or Ceph, NFS
  • Automation using Ansible playbooks and roles
  • Programming experience, particularly in one or more of the following languages or frameworks: Python, Java, Ruby, PHP, JavaScript, Go
  • Experience with database systems like Postgres, MySQL, or MongoDB
  • 2+ years of experience working in a software development life cycle
  • AI/ML experience
