The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer I to join our Testing team within our growing technology organization.
At UserTesting, we power human understanding by enabling organizations to learn directly from real users. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll contribute to the systems that support how our customers design, run, and analyze tests across our platform.
We are looking for an engineer who is excited to continue growing their skillset — including developing broader full-stack capabilities over time. Across our team, we actively support engineers in expanding their technical scope to enable better collaboration, deeper technical discussions, and more fluid decision-making around where solutions should live within the system.
What You Will Be Doing
Design, build, and enhance features that support growing product usage and evolving customer needs
Own work end-to-end — from technical design through implementation, testing, and production release
Collaborate with your team to translate product requirements into technical solutions, while building and maintaining a robust scalable platform
Collaborate closely with other engineers through pair programming, knowledge sharing, and code reviews
Support and review code from peers, promoting clean code and high engineering standards
Identify opportunities to simplify complexity and improve development workflows
Troubleshoot production issues and ensure reliable system behavior
What We’re Looking For
Core Experience
Strong backend development experience with NodeJS in production environments
Solid backend development experience and comfort working on APIs and services
Good understanding of software design principles, testing practices, and maintainable architecture
Experience delivering production-ready software as part of a collaborative engineering team
Growth Mindset
Eagerness to learn new technologies and expand beyond your primary area of expertise
Interest in developing full-stack capabilities over time
Adaptability to evolving technical and organizational requirements
Nice to Have
Experience with frontend technologies such as React
Experience mentoring other engineers or guiding projects
Exposure to working across different layers of the stack
