About the role
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in advancing Tymit’s data strategy. As an individual contributor with a strategic mindset, your primary responsibility will be the technical implementation and optimization of our data infrastructure, ensuring that it is scalable, secure, and aligned with our business goals.
This role is critical to Tymit's success, as you will be responsible for designing and refining our data architecture, driving innovation, and solving complex technical challenges that directly impact our mission. You will be a key team member of the data team, working closely with cross-functional teams to develop and manage data pipelines, data models, promote best practices in data governance and security, and lead initiatives that enhance the overall data capabilities of the organization.

During your time at Tymit you will
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of scalable data architectures using AWS services like Glue, Redshift, Athena, S3, and Lambda. You will set the technical direction for data systems that support the company’s long-term goals.
- Provide technical leadership within the data team, mentoring mid-level and junior engineers, guiding best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Tackle the most challenging technical issues, offering innovative solutions that enhance system performance, security, scalability, and data usability. Your expertise will be crucial in navigating complex technical landscapes and integrating new technologies.
- Work closely with product, engineering, and business intelligence teams to develop and maintain data models that support both operational reporting and advanced analytics.
- Lead efforts in data governance, ensuring data integrity, compliance, and security across all platforms. You will be responsible for developing and enforcing robust data security policies and governance frameworks.
- Champion the adoption of automation and best practices in data processes. You will leverage tools like Jenkins, Docker, and Terraform to streamline workflows and continuously refine Tymit’s data architecture.

- Data Processing Tools: Tools like Airflow, dbt, and Apache Spark for managing data pipelines and processing.
- Programming Languages: Python, Bash, and SQL for data manipulation, scripting, and querying.
- Automation & CI/CD: Jenkins, Docker, and Terraform for automating processes and managing infrastructure as code.
- Data Visualization & BI: Metabase for creating and sharing data visualizations and dashboards across the organization.

What You Will Bring Along
- Advanced Technical Expertise: Extensive background in event-driven architectures, change data capture (CDC), along with a solid foundation in data modelling. Experience with AWS data services, including Glue, Redshift, Athena, S3, and Lambda, and strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and Git.
- Proven Leadership Skills: Experience mentoring and guiding junior and mid-level engineers, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
- Complex Problem-Solving Ability: Demonstrated success in solving complex technical challenges, particularly in designing and optimizing large-scale data architectures.
