We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineering Director to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing senior leadership for our platform infrastructure and functions, which include designing, developing and maintaining secure cloud infrastructure and applications, leveraging DevOps practices and security protocols. • Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Oversee our incident management process and coordination with service owners.
  • Work closely with our FinOps function and stakeholders to own and manage our cloud infrastructure spend.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key technology vendors and partners, including some budgetary responsibilities.
  • Work closely with the Security and Risk functions to ensure that our platform maintains a robust security profile, ensuring we meet regulatory and industry standards.

What we expect from you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on platform engineering.
  • Strong experience in DevOps methodologies and automation, including source control management, continuous integration and delivery, infrastructure as code, and containerisation, with expertise in authentication and authorisation for public cloud and Kubernetes.
  • Experience leading a team of teams with multiple direct and indirect reports.
  • Strong understanding of at least two cloud-based infrastructure providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proven experience in change management, encouraging innovation and driving efficiencies within high performing platform engineering teams.
  • Solid understanding of software development principles and practices, including Agile methodologies and performance management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of authentication, authorisation (IAM, Federation, RBAC, service accounts) for public cloud and kubernetes.
  • Experience with security and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2, GDPR, DORA) is a plus.
