Meet the team!
The ranking team at Preply owns one of the key touchpoints for our learners, developing the tutor ranking algorithms that power our search page. You will work with a cross-functional product team with expertise in data science, machine learning and MLOps to help guide the direction and understand the impact of our production models, helping our learners find the best tutor possible.
What you’ll be doing:
- Diving deep into the behavior of our users to identify new opportunities;
- Experiment design and pre and post experiment analysis, to dig into what experiments are telling us and use these learnings to help shape future direction;
- Exploring, testing and productionising new features used in our core ML algorithms;
- Problem sizing and estimating the impact of new initiatives;
- Help refine product initiatives into lean, experiment-led technical implementations;
- Participating in the definition of engagement metrics and key performance indicators;
- Partnering with ML scientists and engineers to test new approaches and build new data assets.
What you need to succeed:
- Strong background in experimentation and causal inference;
- Ideally 5+ years’ experience as a Data Analyst or Data Scientist working in search, ranking or recommender systems;
- Strong Python and SQL experience;
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field;
- Knowledge of quantitative fields (statistics, mathematics, etc.);
- Ability to apply statistical techniques to derive meaningful insights and make data-driven decisions;
- Exhibiting strong curiosity, problem-solving skills, and the ability to identify and address underlying problems;
- Emphasizing a creative mindset and proactively engaging in the formation and evaluation of new hypotheses;
- Possessing strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Nice to have:
- Experience working with ML products and engineers
- Experience with modern MLOps tooling, such as MLFlow
- Experience with Spark
