Are you the brightest Java Software Engineer you can think of? At Webfleet Solutions we are  looking for Versatile Software Engineers (Based in Barcelona, Spain) with solid foundations in one or more of the technologies of our stack (Databricks, Spark, Python, Java / JEE ) and a lot of drive and mental flexibility to learn a lot about the rest of it to join our new team in Amsterdam.

Be part of an agile cross-functional team that works on data products and solutions, APIs, integrations with back-office systems and customer backends. The code base consists mainly of Python, Java and will be operated in a cloud environment such as MS Azure.  

Here's a little taste of your challenge: 

 

Our software engineers design for quality and reuse, componentization, resilience, and multi-threading, and at the same time you should be willing to get your hands dirty and dive deep into all any kind of problem that comes your way.  

  • Create solution designs for and deliver complete sets of functionalities from backend to frontend. The key technical focus of the role will be more on the backend but depending on project requirements you also step into other technical areas;

  • Work in a technically complex and sensitive environment, which will require you to build relevant functional knowledge about the products, technical knowledge about the platform’s stack and architecture;

  • Keep a keen eye on application performance, operability, robustness, monitoring and failure resilience, data privacy and the security of individual services and the whole system;  

  • Agree the technical implementation with involved component owners and estimate its work effort;

  • Implement, test and demonstrate new product features in an agile process;

  • Develop complete sets of functionalities including the backend and user interfaces;

  • Work on further usability, performance improvements or quality assurance, including bug fixes and test automation.

What do we expect from you? 

 

To make a successful start in the Webfleet Solutions product engineering organization it will definitely help if you have a passion for software engineering, building products and tweaking systems.   
The most important qualification that will make you successful in the longer term, is to have a “getting things done” attitude. No matter whether it is to implement a new feature, fix a bug in production, extract some data and deliver it to customer support, change system configurations, solving problems together with 3rd parties and system partners, you tackle the problem and resolve it. Also, it will be of great help if you have as many as possible of the below:  

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken);  

  • A degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent experience;  

  • Hands-on experience with big data processing and orchestration tools such as Azure Data Factory (ADF), and distributed data processing platforms like Databricks and Spark, with the ability to optimize complex data pipelines for performance, scalability, and resilience;

  • Understanding of ETL, Delta Lake, distributed systems, and enterprise integration patterns;

  • A desire to work as part of an international organization and cooperate with other software engineers, system engineers, architects, product owners and external partners across multiple locations; 

  • Great communication skills, holistic and systemic thinking, goal-orientation, quality-focus, versatile problem-solving skills, an open mind as well as at least 6 years of experience in commercial software development;  

  • Experience with at least one or ideally some of the following languages, technologies or principles: Databricks, Kafka, Java, Spring, SQL, REST, JavaScript, React, HTML5, CSS3, scripting languages as Python or Groovy, C/C++ or C#, and let’s not forget data structures, separation of concerns, complex distributed systems, message-driven architectures, enterprise integration patterns;
