In light of the recent announcement from AngelList and taking our cue from the terms usually given by Venture Capital firms in southern Europe (JobFluent’s natural habitat to date), we have decided that we now receive 25% of your company on any successful hire and/or interview and/or email with someone who knows how to code a line of PHP or can draw a candy (can I use that word) for your casual iOS/Android/MySpace game.
We are just following the trends, you know?… Generally, we like to bring startups together for a beer and chat with great talent – however have realised we missed the boat. We want to start claiming equity! Don’t worry this is just a test with terms that may or may not be binding.
Have you seen the news? Did you list a role on AngelList thinking it was free?
Caution, if you successfully recruit via their service you may owe cash or equity! The range they are saying is 10% of the hired person’s salary or 1/4 of a 1% of your company. Angelist has stated the rate may be as much as “$10,000 to $30,000 per hire.” Keep your eyes open when listing your role there.
Angelist has descended from the upper echelons of Silicon Valley Tech society and is now looking to roll out their approach to the European ecosystem. If you have listed your roles with them recently, take a look again at what you have just committed to. We love what they are doing on the investor side… we need it in Spain!
Their model may work well for the environments of San Francisco tech elite, however we will be interested to see the day-to-day impact on startups across Europe, as they look to monetise startup recruitment in Europe.
Granted, we do charge for job listing on our sites, and have fees for recruiter tables at our events, however they are always startup friendly and we never try to muscle in on the ownership of your company. Tell us what you think of the AngelList proposal?
