Job Description

At Criteo, our culture is as unique as it is diverse. From our offices around the world or from home, our incredible team of 2,700 Criteos collaborates to develop an open and inclusive environment. We aim to create a place where people can grow and learn from each other while having a meaningful impact. We work together to achieve our goals, push boundaries, and share successes. All of this supports us in our mission to power the world’s marketers with trusted and impactful advertising.

What is it like to work in our R&D?

Most of all, we are creators. From designing ground-breaking products to finding unique ways to solve technical challenges at an exceptional scale, our tech teams work with state-of-the-art methodologies to shape the future of advertising. The Criteo AI Lab in particular brings together researchers, machine learning engineers, and data scientists. Our mission is to develop advertising solutions that provide value to Internet users around the world. We do so by pushing state-of-the-art ML methodologies into our products to drive better performance, and act as the center of Machine Learning research and engineering excellence.

What is the mission of the team?

The image of a product is a powerful mean to catch the attention of a prospective customer. The objective of the Image incubation team is to see how we can leverage that asset to provide better ads and additional services to our clients. Among the projects the team worked on in the past, we investigated virtual try-on solutions (what would I look like in that outfit?), visual search (what’s the product in that image?), intelligent cropping (how to crop automatically the image to fit a specific aspect ratio?), feature extraction (has the outfit of this picture long or short sleeves?), etc.

What you will do

  • As part of an incubator team, you will propose and review in team possible new projects leveraging computer vision/image processing, select the most promising ones, devise a solution based on state-of-the art techniques before implementing it and testing it.
  • You will be responsible for driving the technical aspects of your projects and ensure the team remain on track. Considering the exploratory nature of the projects, you will ensure the team and the project remain on a ‘quick iteration/fail fast’ approach.
  • You will be the technical reference for your team shaping the projects, liaising with counterparts in R&D and Product teams to remove road blockers and validating the interest, coaching more junior profiles, etc.
  • You will also be in charge of monitoring and investigating new academic and industrial data mining, machine learning, and modeling techniques to apply to our specific business cases
  • In closed relationship within the research community, you will maintain world-class academic credentials through publications, and presentations in academic conferences.
  • Depending on your interests and results, this position could evolve towards a team lead position.

Who you are

  • Master degree/PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science or a related quantitative field
  • 5+ years of experience in development in at least one mainstream programming language (Python, Java, C++ etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience with computer vision and/or image processing is a plus
  • You have demonstrated your ability to propose new ideas of ML-based projects and to bring them to production with the help of your team mates
  • You are skilled in sourcing, cleaning, manipulating and analyzing large volumes of data, ideally in a Hadoop programming environment.
  • You have experience with traditional as well as modern statistical learning techniques
  • You keep yourself up-to-date with the current research and results in your field and identify possible applications for the company
  • You are able to propose, conduct and report results of original research, plus collaborative research with publications

At Criteo, we believe the future is wide open when it includes everyone. We are committed to creating an environment where all Criteos feel a sense of belonging. We nourish our diversity by listening to all cultures within Criteo - and there are many. We are proud to be a global team and conscious that it takes people with different perspectives, thoughts and cultures to succeed. We want you to come as you are so we can succeed together.

Criteo collects your personal data for the purposes of managing Criteo's recruitment related activities.
