Job Description

See yourself at Twilio

Join the team as our next Software Engineer.

Who we are & why we’re hiring

Twilio powers real-time business communications and data solutions that help companies and developers worldwide build better applications and customer experiences.

Although we're headquartered in San Francisco, we have presence throughout South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. We're on a journey to becoming a globally anti-racist, anti-oppressive, anti-bias company that actively opposes racism and all forms of oppression and bias. At Twilio, we support diversity, equity & inclusion wherever we do business. We employ thousands of Twilions worldwide, and we're looking for more builders, creators, and visionaries to help fuel our growth momentum.

About the job

This position is needed to help Twilio build Event Streams, a product that allows Twilio's customers to subscribe to a set of unified streams that provide events for every interaction sent or received in the Twilio cloud. In this position you will be working in a squad made of Software Engineers, a Tech Lead, a Product Manager and an Engineering manager, and you will be challenged to design and build the Event Streams product.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Contribute to the development of the Event Streams product, working with data pipelines built with services written in Scala, Golang, Java, and leveraging technologies like gRPC, Kafka, AWS (DynamoDB, S3) and more.
  • Design and build REST APIs and work in the domain of distributed computing.
  • Own, operate, and maintain your team’s services in a production environment, ensuring services are reliable, scalable, manageable and supportable.
  • Contribute to the testing and validation of Event Streams, and its integrations with existing Twilio products.

Qualifications

Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having “desired” qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!

Required:

  • 2+ years of backend development experience, preferably Scala, Golang or Java.
  • Experience consuming and designing mature REST APIs.
  • Experience with unit, integration and e2e testing methodologies.
  • Experience or interest in working with cloud solution providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc).
  • Demonstrated cross-team communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with engineering best practices in all phases of the software development life cycle.
  • Familiarity with Linux scripting.

Desired:

  • Experience developing and delivering software using containers / Kubernetes.
  • Experience working with high traffic, highly scalable systems and complex code bases.
  • Understanding of distributed systems and operational complexities and challenges.
  • Bachelors and/or Masters in Computer Science or related field, or comparable professional experience.

Location

This role will be based in our Madrid office or Spain Remote.

What We Offer

There are many benefits to working at Twilio, including, in addition to competitive pay, things like generous time-off, ample parental and wellness leave, healthcare, a retirement savings program, and much more. Offerings vary by location.
