The Position

Position

In a cross-sites and cross-functional environment, the interdisciplinary Instrument Integration Sub Chapter in RDS Core Lab Development Instrumentation Development is responsible for product definition, integration of hardware, software, consumables, and reagents, and the verification of diagnostic instruments (hardware and software) to deliver innovative, high-quality and reliable medical devices meeting our customer’s needs.

As a Senior SW Test Engineer, you are accountable for test case design of complex functions and features, planning and execution of test cases, defect reporting, and definition and implementation of test environments in close alignment within the project team.

In this role, you are a member of a high performing cross-site development team (St. Cugat and Rotkreuz), and you are closely collaborating with the product definition team, software development and other project related functions through all phases of system development.


 

Your key responsibilities

  • Participation in feature teams and supporting the definition of new features and functions by providing expert knowhow, and to ensure clarity and testability of requirements and user stories

  • Elaboration and definition of acceptance criteria with the respective stakeholders to ensure an aligned decision base for the assessment of the verification results

  • Creation, maintenance and review of complex SW test cases in all lifecycle phases (from early feasibility to product care) considering the respective customer workflows

  • Planning, execution and documentation of test cases including defect reporting and support of root cause analysis

  • Technical leadership of less experienced team members and knowhow sharing in the area of expertise

  • Active support of test management to ensure timely availability of all deliverables according to the underlying project plan


 

Who you are

To be successful in this position you have:

  • 5+ years work experience in a similar position and profound knowledge of processes and methods in verification & validation of systems ideally in the regulated IVD environment

  • Master's degree (MSc) or Bachelor's degree (BSc) in a relevant technical or biomedical field, such as informatics, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, life sciences, or a related discipline.

  • Ability to actively contribute to team collaboration, inclusion, sharing ideas and good team spirit, as well as mutual trust and respect (project team and sub chapter level)

  • An ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level or equivalent education

  • Advanced knowledge of test management tools (e.g. RETINA)

  • Expert English language skills (B2/C1 or better)

Bonus skills are:

  •  Advanced knowledge in special verification methods/disciplines e.g. test automation (programming languages: Python, C/C++, Bash Script, Gherkin), reliability testing, lifetime testing, load tests, acceptance tests, usability testing

  • Advanced knowledge of customer workflows in the area of diagnostic instruments (e.g. in coagulation or serum work area)

  • Basic understanding of systems engineering

  • Basic understanding of project management in development projects

  • An ISTQB Certified Tester Advanced Level

  • Experience in agile methodologies
