Hej! I’m Ignacio, I am an Engineering Manager at IKEA for Business and I am based in Madrid.

As we are expanding our Digital Hub in Madrid we are looking for passionate engineers who are excited about shaping the future of IKEA for Business area. Since we are at the very beginning of our journey, this is a great moment to join and help us to provide the best experience to our business customers.


WHAT DO I BECOME A PART OF?

IKEA for Business covers a wide range of initiatives with global reach. For this role you will be focusing on building a new eCommerce for our Business customers.
Furnishing your home is not the same as furnishing your business. That’s why we have taken a step back, studied business customer’s needs and rethought the way they buy online. Our solution will be used in more than 30 market, which is why this is an excellent opportunity to be part of a team that will make a huge international impact from a very early stage. Inside IKEA for Business, we operate with a startup mindset, our team is fully empowered to make our own decisions and we take ownership of the entire product. We like to operate as a single unit and that’s why we get input from every team member equally. Engineering, data, UX and product team members work hand by hand on all stages of the project, giving everyone the opportunity to both learn and add value in any area.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to design, implement, and operate solutions that will be directly experienced by our customers:

You will handle the entire software development life cycle, end to end. You are expected not only to lead the technical part of the project, but also to participate on and understand the project from a product perspective.

You will lead other developers and become a reference for others when looking for guidance. You are expected to have the right communication skills and passion for teaching to help other members of the team reach their full potential.

You’re a seasoned Software Engineer with experience in sustainable growth and able to shape the technical direction of the team. You have a solid experience with OOP (like Java or Python), and you’re used to other languages like Node.js

You are used to working with stakeholders and being hands-on at your own pace. You embrace best practices and you know when to push back when the situation requires it

You understand that technology is a great means to achieve even greater results!

You have a DevOps mentality. Providing value to our customers is in your DNA by deploying fast and safe and using CI/CD flows, TDD and DDD. Everything is production-ready!

You have experience working with Cloud providers like AWS or GCP and are familiar with the concept of Serverless

You have proven experience with Microservices technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc)

You have a passion for shaping the team’s ways of working and Engineering agreements (Use of design patterns, when possible, clean code good practices, ...)

You enjoy cross-team collaboration and embrace open source practices with other teams

You enjoy prototyping new ideas (both individually and as a team) and have an MVP mentality when it comes to launching new products
