What does a great Senior Software Development Engineer do?
You will come on board at a truly exciting time, and you will play a pivotal and crucial part in collaborating with a focused team of experienced developers, testers and designers. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of Travelport’s next generation of travel agencies tools.
You will be responsible for developing Java based microservices, help junior developers on projects, and supporting various development duties. The responsibilities of engineers include writing code, analyzing data, and contributing to the design and implementation of software.
You will be joining a team who are pivotal in building API’s for Travelport Products. Your work will directly impact Travelport customers making their interactions with Travelport seamless and efficient.

Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex software solutions using Java technologies.
- Coding: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while following best practices in software development.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and other developers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers, ensuring the overall quality of the team’s output.
- Architecture: Contribute to the architectural decisions of the software, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Problem Solving: Identify and solve software-related problems, analyze code defects, and implement effective solutions.
- Code Review: Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality and ensure adherence to coding standards.
- Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation related to the software development process.
- Innovation: Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in software engineering and propose innovative solutions.
What we look for/who would prosper in this role?
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on Java technologies.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Java programming language and related frameworks (Spring, Hibernate, etc.).
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and design patterns.
- Experience with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) Redis”, search engines such as “SOLR or Elastic”and web frameworks (e.g., Angular, React) is a plus.
- Familiarity with databases (SQL, NoSQL) and experience in optimizing database queries.
- Knowledge of software development tools, such as version control systems, build tools, and IDEs.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently, with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Leadership: Proven experience in leading software development projects and mentoring junior engineers.
