Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Software Developer for our Internal Operability squad. We are looking for a generalist software developer who loves learning new things and facing new challenges but we also value if you have some deep experience about specific topics such as design systems, scalability, XP practices...

We work remotely but you can also work in Madrid offices. At the moment we are only seeking candidates in Europe (UTC+02:00 or similar).

Approximate salary range: € 35k - 55k.

If you don't have some of the requirements, but you are willing to learn, have an open mind and this job offer resonates with you, don't hesitate to contact us.

Nextail is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.

In this role, you’ll get to…

  • Design and build the system that supports our ever growing data management pipelines.

  • Work closely with Product, Services and Operations teams to optimize and automate internal processes.

  • Make the team iterate faster by assessing the needs and evolving the tools.

  • Stay close to production, doing continuous deployment with special care on the quality and processes.

We offer

A highly innovative and fast-paced environment. As in any startup, expect to find a team with an interesting mix of business profiles (without the slides), IT geeks, data scientists, and as a fashion tech startup, a few fashion victims.

  • The satisfaction of delivering something new to the world that will have a strong impact both on retailers’ top line and in customer satisfaction. Contribute to the development of cutting-edge artificial intelligence & machine learning technologies that will build the next generation of retail systems.

  • The opportunity to work with top client decision-makers in the fashion retail industry and sharpen your business reasoning and interpersonal skills. Learn from peers from top consulting firms and the best global business schools.

  • Flexibility in remote work and office hours, use of some of the most advanced collaborative tools.

  • Periodic company get-togethers to meet the rest of the team.

  • Compensation that includes a fixed+variable salary as well as company equity as we progress towards our Series B fundraising rounds.

Who you will work with

  • Carlos Seguín (Head of Product): He believes in a good product oriented culture and creating a safe environment in which to work and collaborate while having fun. He comes from Xero, having seen and participated for years in exponential growth while somehow managing to maintain and reinforce that product orientation and technical excellence. Now he is working to do the same at Nextail.

  • Fran G. Periáñez (VP of Engineering): He joined Nextail more than 5 years ago, when there was practically no team or market fit. Since then he has worked on all parts of the product and, as usual in small startups, he has played almost every role there is, from developer to VP of engineering. He is very focused on getting the best possible working environment for all Nextail squads, while constantly iterating to make the delivery process as efficient and scalable as possible.

  • Beatriz Domínguez (Engineering Manager): At the age of 6 she touched her first computer and since then she hasn't been able to be separated from them. She started working in the world of technology as a developer more than 13 years ago. Passionate about continuous improvement, in the last few years she has been working with teams of all kinds and worrying about their growth and effectiveness.

  • Pablo Fernández de la Cigoña (Software Developer): He leads the Internal Operability Squad. As if he had been trained by Mr. Miyagui himself, he is able to deal with any challenge put in front of him with unmatched calm. He understands the development world as a continuous learning process and likes to be surrounded with people who share his philosophy.

Requirements

First of all, we are looking for a good workmate to join the team. We value working in a safe and constructive environment where everybody can thrive over any specific technical skill.

In our team you will also find people focused on generating an impact in the company, rather than just taking on new tasks to develop. We expect that the person who joins us is as excited about this bias towards impact and action as we are.

The requirements and valued skills for this job are:

  • Knowledge and experience applying good development practices such as Hexagonal architecture, SOLID, TDD, CI/CD, etc.

  • Knowledge of Python and Ruby on Rails languages/frameworks is desirable. Experience in other languages will also be valued.

  • Experience working with agile methodologies.

  • Self-motivation and self-organization. Good time management and personal organizational skills are essential.

  • Curiosity and passion about technology, assuming the learning process never ends.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • You are fluent in English (other languages, especially Spanish, are a plus).

  • Interest in working in a strongly growing international company.

We will also positively value if you:

  • Have experience with JS and any modern Frontend framework as Angular, React or Vue (here at Nextail we currently work with Angular)

  • Have experience or knowledge in SQL, relational or non-relational DB and cloud infrastructure.

  • Have experience working in fast paced product oriented startups

And remember, even if you don't have some of the requirements, don't hesitate to contact us and tell us what you would like to bring to the team, we are always open for the right person :)
