What does a great Software Development Engineer in Test do?

You will be working on and supporting Productivity Automator, a self-service portal that allows our customers to configure rules to automate travel agents’ repetitive tasks to finalise bookings. You and your team will be designing and implementing new features to make Productivity Automator the most competitive automation product in the travel business.

Productivity Automator has moved to global availability recently. The focus is now on ramping up the tool with new capabilities and enhancements to ensure adoption of the tool. The team is also concentrating on making the application more scalable and robust as well as improving the time to market via automation of continuous delivery pipeline.

You will play a pivotal and crucial part in collaborating with a focused team of experienced developers, testers, product owners and designers. You will join a team responsible for the complete quality delivery of Travelport’s automation capabilities, amazing technical products, to our customers!

Responsibilities:

  • Work with team, product stakeholders and leads to build in quality, continuous integration and improve speed to Production with a drive toward Continuous Delivery  
  • Take part in implementing the test automation strategy and overall quality strategy  
  • Support and contribute to the overall CI/CD strategy for our product and for the company  
  • Contribute to the estimation & planning of team tasks for each release, including identifying quality risks and constraints  
  • Review your team’s test case suites, text execution progress and quality deliverables  
  • Monitor and compile Automation test results and communicate these to the project team, drive toward continuous testing  
  • Take part in root cause analysis of quality issues  
  • Evaluate new QA tools & processes and introduce tangible improvements to quality  
  • Contributing towards Productivity Automator’s testing automation framework using Selenium, C# and SpecFlow
  • Be comfortable supporting Automation for micro services architectures, modern web UI applications and modern Design Systems.  
  • Work with a variety of test tools – GitHub, Jira, Work Collaboration Tools (Confluence), Jira Test Case Management system, CI/CD pipelines, etc.   
  • Escalate issues appropriately to project stakeholders    

 

What we look for/who would prosper in this role?

  • 4+ years’ experience as an Automation Engineer   
  • UI, API, Functional & Non-Functional testing
  • Experience OO Programming language (C#, Java, Groovy), JavaScript or other scripting type language (python)
  • Experience using Selenium, Cucumber or other automated testing tools such as JUnit or TestNG  
  • Version control systems such as Git
  • Build tools such as Maven and Gradle  
  • Continuous Integration & tools used for CI such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub or TeamCity
  • Testing web applications and server applications   
  • Automation of web services and backend systems or micro services   
  • Experience supporting agile teams with a mix of manual and Automation   
  • Familiarity with Test Case Management and Bug Tracking tools, preferably Jira
