Digital Strategy & IT consulting specialised in providing SW & App development services to accelerate and embrace digital customer interactions. Our main client is one of the biggest telecommunication providers in Africa. We are building a multifunctional app to facilitate Africans the access to free communication, money transactions and entertainment across the whole continent! and we are very proud of being part of such a beautiful & meaningful project.

We are looking for a Sr Data Analyst/Scientist for our Data department.

 

Tasks to be perform

  • Leads the delivery of strategic advanced ETL and analytics solutions across different industries.
  • Provide analytics insights and solutions to solve business problems that are specific to client requirements
  • Support operations in fact-based decision making, RCA, and strategic initiatives through data analysis, text analysis, and statistical modeling.
  • Engage in fundamental research to develop novel solutions.
  • Staying informed of best technical practices from the fields of machine learning and software engineering to identify and help fill any tooling or skilling opportunities for the team.
  • Build and Manage a team consisting of Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and Data Engineers.
  • Day-to-day tasking and management of Data Science related functions. Regularly interfacing with internal stakeholders to prioritize opportunities for the team.
  • Communicating the value of the Data Science projects applied to all projects and company-wide objectives.
  • Building business processes for more efficient operation of the team.
  • Teach and mentoring activities for team members across the organization.
  • Experience with developing software and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience managing a team of data scientist and software developers predominantly in cloud environment
  • Familiarity with data science and/or AI technologies.
  • Functional or technical leadership experience.
  • Outstanding critical thinking skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and drive to stay updated on new technologies in the rapidly evolving field of AI.

A successful candidate will be comfortable in a fluid, entrepreneurial and very high paced environment, but one that is focused on developing reusable software applications, not bespoke analytical solutions.


    Must have

    • 2+ years of Data Science experience or a related field, with hands-on experience handling data-driven decisions.
    • Experience hiring, mentoring and managing a team of data scientists.
    • Write complex ETL (Extract / Transform / Load) processes, to design and develop solutions for real-time and batch analytic processing on an AWS-hosted data and analytics platform.
    • Experience in statistical modeling, machine learning, unstructured data analytics in-corporate and/or academic research environments.
    • Expert in statistical and other tools/ languages – e.g. R, S-plus, SAS, STATA, Python, C, C++, Java, Scala.
    • Proficient with SQL and relational databases.
    • Degree in areas like Statistics, Operations Research, Physics, Computer Science, Economics, etc.
    • Ability to partner with product manager and business stakeholders to define objectives.
    • Strong applied analytics and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience working with large data-sets, modeling, statistics, A/B & multivariate testing.
    • Facilitates periodic synchronization meetings across several different onsite and distributed teams.
    • Reports on standardized program-level metrics, and understands, tracks, and operates within defined KPIs.
    • Advanced English communication skills.


        Good to have

        • Experience managing teams and projects.
        • Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English.
        • Familiarity with AWS data & analytics services stack (S3, DynamoDB, Redshift, EC2, Sagemaker).
        • Familiar with Google Cloud data & analytics services stack (BigQuery).
        • Develop, test and productionize predictive algorithms by using state-of-the-art machine learning solutions, and statistical models.
        • Proven background in at least one of the following: Reliability models, Markov Models, Stochastic Models, Bayesian Modelling, Classification Models, Cluster Analysis, Neural Network, Machine Learning, Non-parametric methods, Multivariate statistics.
        • MSc (or PhD) in a numerical field such as Mathematics, Physics, Computer science, Electrical Engineering, or Statistics.
        • Previous experience with Docker and Docker ecosystem (Kubernetes).

        • Aptitude to learn, think creatively to solve real-world business problems, and work in a global collaborative team environment.
        • Be able to work within an Agile environment, building and evolving models in a test and learn fashion.
