Principal Platform Engineer - Fintech

Madrid Office - Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home

We are looking for an experienced Principal Platform Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be working across our engineering teams to ensure that our platform meets the needs of our customers and business objectives.

What you will do:

  • Work as a technical leader and subject matter expert, providing guidance and mentorship to the platform engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement architectural strategies that align with business objectives and drive technical excellence.
  • Lead the design and implementation of highly scalable and reliable systems, leveraging advanced cloud technologies and best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying areas for optimisation and efficiency enhancement within the platform infrastructure.
  • Act as a proactive problem solver, investigating and resolving complex system issues and performance bottlenecks.
  • Champion the adoption of industry-leading practices and technologies, staying up-to-date with emerging trends in the field.
  • Represent Ebury and speak at technical conferences, meet-ups, and industry events, showcasing the company's technical expertise and thought leadership.

What we expect from you:

  • Extensive experience in building and deploying large-scale distributed systems, demonstrating a deep understanding of architectural principles and scalability considerations.
  • Proven expertise in cloud architecture and application deployment patterns, with hands-on experience in designing and implementing highly available and resilient systems on platforms like GCP or AWS.
  • Strong programming skills and proficiency in multiple programming languages, with a focus on writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to effectively mentor and guide junior engineers and influence technical decisions across teams.
  • Track record of driving technical innovation and excellence, with a passion for staying at the forefront of industry trends and advancements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyse complex system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively articulate technical concepts and ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness to actively engage in the tech community, building and expanding professional networks both inside and outside of Ebury .
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively deliver technical content in a clear, engaging, and informative manner.
