Job Description

We're looking for a Senior Java Backend Developer that takes pride in creating the very best bite- sized entertainment for millions of players worldwide. If you want to contribute to creating an amazing experience for millions of players to enjoy on the go then this is the right job for you!

By joining the Eternal Games team, you will work with a multidisciplinary team to provide development support for the features we design and implement in our 5 games (Blossom Blast Saga, Bubble Witch 2 Saga, Diamond Diaries Saga, Farm Heroes Super Saga and Pyramid Solitaire Saga). This is an exciting opportunity that offers variety in the scope of your work, giving you access to make an impact at scale.

Your role within our Kingdom

As our Senior Java Backend Developer, you will be a part of a team with the mission to build and maintain new and existing game features. You will be working in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team that works with 5 games. The team is composed of people who belong to the following crafts: Game Design, Level Design, Data Science, Frontend, QA and UI/Art.

As part of the team, you will enjoy a creative, challenging, multidisciplinary and collaborative environment where your ideas will be every bit as valued as your programming expertise. If you have a product mindset and want to have a say in the design of experiments we run in our games, this is your place.

On the more technical side, you are not afraid to embrace our DevOps methodology: you promote your code to our production systems and look after it while in production. You will take a lead on creating and maintaining the back end of our casual games by identifying what needs to be done and implementing the changes.

Skills to create thrills

You have a great passion for system development, new technologies, large scale systems and games in particular. You’re an excellent communicator, happy dealing with people from different crafts and business units and with varying degrees of technical savviness. Therefore, you’re able to translate business needs to technical requirements and implementation. You're excited about doing what's best for the game and adaptable enough to work on different things day to day based on its needs.

Other skills include:

  • Able to architect, design and implement components, features and systems in Java

  • Excited about working on a live game product with a massive number of active users

  • Knowledge of databases and general web development

  • Able to support game servers from a Level 3 support perspective, investigating issues when escalated

  • Experienced working with UNIX environments and Git

  • Great communication between our dedicated ops team, client developers and other backend developers

  • Ability to work with different teams and provide mentorship to junior developers

  • Experience with developing backend for mobile apps

  • Experience with working with server authoritative solutions

Valuable skills

This is a list of skills we would value very positively for you to have. However, we welcome you anyway, as this role would bring you the opportunities to become an expert on them, if you were not yet.

  • C# and Unity Knowledge

  • Client development experience

  • Experience with Gradle build systems

  • Experience using Jenkins or other CI systems for automation

  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker

  • Familiarity with web protocols, application servers and web servers

  • Experience in working on a product- growth led company
