Job Description

Stripe Tax is one of Stripe’s newest products. It lets our users calculate and collect sales tax, VAT, and GST with one line of code or the click of a button. As Stripe Tax launched in June 2021, we’re still in our early days, which means ample opportunity for impact and growth.

We’re establishing a new team within Stripe Tax that is dedicated to Tax Content & rules engineering. This is a key component of ensuring Tax accuracy for our users. This team will work with the wider Stripe Tax team to build a greenfield CMS product where we can safely manage this critical data. The CMS product amongst other things will allow for creation, versioning, auditing and testing of content and rules data.

We’re looking for someone who is well-versed in web frontend product development. You should have strong UX/product sensibilities and enjoy working closely with world class product designers, product managers, program managers and backend engineers.

You might work on:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders across the company including engineering, product, operations, finance, data science, accounting, sales, and operations
  • Creating beautiful web surfaces using technologies such as javascript, CSS, TypeScript and GraphQL
  • Scoping and design technical projects, laying the groundwork for early-stage products to iteratively evolve and scale
  • Ensuring our UI components and libraries are reliable, secure, extensible and accessible
  • Debugging production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack with an eye towards improving maintainability over the long term

You may be fit for this role if you:

  • Have deep javascript knowledge
  • Experience in building greenfield systems
  • Are comfortable with both reusing enterprise react libraries/components and creating new ones
  • Have experience with modern frontend toolchains and development workflows
  • Have experience in building internal systems with internal stakeholders
  • Can foresee cross-browser compatibility issues and client-side performance considerations
  • Can stitch together many different services and processes together even if you have not worked with them before
  • Can put yourself in the shoes of your users and be a steward of crafting great experiences

We look forward to hearing from you
