About the role

The goal of a Professional Services Engineering Manager is to make sure engineers in the Professional Services Team perform at their best and in the client’s interest.

This role is the bridge between Project Managers and Solutions Engineers and also collaborates closely with other stakeholders within the company (CTO, Customer Success Managers and Product Managers).

This job has 3 main legs:

  • Directly managing all engineers in the Professional Services Team (1:1s, Performance Reviews, Recruiting, Coaching, Career Path, etc)
  • Being in close contact with clients in order to make sure onboardings to the Hubytpe platform meet their expectations from a technical point of view: understanding requirements, identifying integrations and technical complexity, make sure we have the resources and capacity to deliver projects on time. This is a shared responsibility with Project Managers.
  • Daily management of projects, tasks, risks, and dependencies. Identifying bottlenecks, and establishing processes and best practices within the Professional Services technical team. This is a shared responsibility with the Professional Services Delivery Lead.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with PM/ED/EL/Designer to create OKRs for the Services Team
  • Determine squad/team makeup & hiring needs
  • Source engineers and work with recruiting to ensure the hiring process run smoothly. Make the final hiring decision
  • Ensure engineers understand how the work they are doing ladders up to OKRs & wider company goals
  • Ensure engineers have the skills needed to support their squad by encouranging and monitoring Learning Initiatives; Coach engineers to set personal goals & assist in defining steps to achieve them
  • Apply the Performance Management Process: ensuring every engineer gets enough feedback trough the daily feedback, 1:1 & Quarter Performance Reviews.
  • Be a sponsor for engineers so they have access to growth opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have on their own. Make sure ELs are aware of growth & learning opportunities engineers are looking for so they can enable that if possible
  • Be the technical front face with customers, answering technical doubts, understanding requirements and interfacing with technical leaders on the customer side.
  • Apply frameworks (Agile, SCRUM, etc) to make sure the team is performing at its maximum capacity to delivering projects on time and at the highest levels of quality.

Requirements


Related Work Experience

  • 7> years experience in software engineering roles
  • Experience managing complex technical projects
  • Experience managing international projects
  • Experience managing at least 4-5 engineers as a tech lead or engineering manager

Formal Education or Equivalent

Software Engineering or similar

  • Deep technical expertise in software systems, architectures and best practices
  • Proficient English & Spanish / Catalan optional
