The Challenge 🧩
Your mission will be to guide the teams in building and delivering a compelling product that empowers developers with a suite of self-service tools, APIs, and services to provide high-quality products quickly and efficiently. You'll foster a growth, collaboration, and innovation culture, enabling our engineers to build efficiently, standardize effectively, and drive the next wave of platform excellence.
What You Will Do 👇
- Lead engineering for the Platform team to develop and deliver a cohesive suite of self-service APIs, tools, and services that drive innovation, security, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Champion a culture of developer experience within the Platform team and across the organization
- Collaborate with development teams to identify and address pain points in their workflows and tooling.
- Ensure efficient, purposeful meetings and streamlined processes that empower your team to stay agile, efficient, and aligned with organizational goals.
- Coach and mentor engineers to foster growth, support skill development, and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and engineer-centric mindset.
- Gather feedback from internal users (developers) and stakeholders, analyze platform usage data, and use this information to iterate and improve the platform
- Evangelize the platform as a product to internal stakeholders, promoting its value and encouraging adoption.
- Implement process improvements that enable secure, high-performance infrastructure, CI/CD best practices, and elevated observability standards to support product and data platform.
- Conduct regular one-on-one sessions with engineers to:
- Set clear expectations and provide ongoing feedback, ensuring team members remain accountable and engaged.
- Develop a strong two-way feedback loop where you share organizational context and build a deep understanding of the engineer and how they work
- Support engineers and help reach a resolution when challenges arise
- Craft a fulfilling and engaging work experience through regular career growth and development conversation
- Iterate and improve our engineering processes and technical culture
- Participate in hiring and onboarding of engineers
What We’re Looking For 🔎
- Passion for building tools and platforms that make developers' lives easier.
- You have experience leading engineering teams (Ideally +2 years)
- You have a deep understanding of how software is built and deployed
- Strong understanding of developer experience principles and best practices
- Excellent English communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with development teams (Spanish is a plus)
- You’re comfortable with participatory management / servant leadership
- Positive attitude, excellent problem-solving, and critical thinking
- Quality-driven, attention to detail, and pragmatic
- Excellent communication skills, adaptability, and eagerness to learn
What Would Be A Plus 🚀
- Experience leading cross-functional teams, particularly within a platform or infrastructure-focused environment.
- Experience with measuring and improving key developer experience metrics
- Familiarity with mobile development.
- Previous exposure to Tribes & Squads models.
Do note that all our jobs are đź“Ť Barcelona based. We follow a hybrid model where flexibility rules. We commit to a minimum of 6 days per month in the office. Each team self-organizes to decide on cadence and in-person/remote rituals.

Stakeholder Interview - run by the hiring team and relevant stakeholders, focus on the ability to collaborate & deliver in a cross-functional set-up, as well as on leadership skills aligned with the role requirements. This usually takes 60 minutes.
Culture Interview - run by culture interviewers, focus on adherence to Wallapop's purpose and business proposition. This usually takes 60 minutes.
Offer - should you be the right candidate, your offer will be discussed over a call with talent acquisition and will then be confirmed in writing.
