Job Description

sennder is digitalizing Europe's logistics. We are a growing team looking for an Engineering Manager to help us on our journey to revolutionize road freight logistics. You would join our Shipper Portal team in the Barcelona office.

We value humility and we're as interested in your character as we are in your talent. Please apply, even if you feel you only meet part of our listed criteria. Diversity drives our innovation and we offer a collaborative, dynamic, and international work environment. Just be yourself. We are excited to meet you and for you to join us in shaping the future of the logistics industry in Europe.

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll work on interesting responsibilities like taking ownership of one of our full-stack and cross-functional pods. You will define and deliver our technology roadmap, foster innovation and allow our multi-disciplinary team to be able to solve all the engineering challenges that come with scale and the complexity of the logistics business. Specifically, you will be in charge of the team responsible for our Shipper Portal, one of our web applications inside SennOS, which allows shippers digital order management, reporting and customized data analytics, and digital document management.

 In this role you will:

  • Build, grow and guide the full stack engineering team that solves difficult problems in the logistics space
  • Drive external and internal hiring as well as develop our engineering talent into new challenges and roles.
  • Support individuals in their career development and personal growth
  • Set your team's technology vision and architectural direction and execute against that vision and agreed target state.
  • Work closely with the Product and User Experience Organisation and embrace lean and agile product development practices and data-driven decision making.
  • Continuously identify and resolve technical debt, quality issues, and gaps in engineering processes.
  • Apply pragmatic solutions, find the right tradeoffs, and seeks to reduce complexity to help teams deliver and increase leverage for the organization.
  • Advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices. Help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices, to continue to raise the bar on providing developer delight and speed of delivery for the teams.
  • Translate product and business vision and strategy into your team and translate into an outward-looking technology strategy.
  • Create a healthy culture of collaboration and inclusion, lead by example in line with the engineering and company values where people can fulfill their potential and actively manage performance.

Preferably you are:

  • At least 7 years of experience in a software engineering role and agile environment
  • Significant, sound, and proven experience in understanding architectural patterns like microservices, event-driven systems, micro frontends and able to navigate the tradeoffs between them.
  • Experience in developing in one or more common programming languages such as Python
  • Proven track record of taking a pragmatic approach while solving problems and passionate about code quality
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Within the team and across the organization you can communicate transparently and effectively.
  • Being a good listener, but also argue for the cause when needed
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to deal with change.
  • Fluency in English
