Job Description

As the Engineering Director working for our Acquisition & Retention domain at zooplus, you will play a pivotal leadership role, responsible for the successful delivery of our innovative software solutions. You will take full ownership and accountability for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategic plan that includes software development and IT architecture. Through your commitment and informed decision-making, you will drive the organization towards achieving outstanding success.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategically allocate resources and manage IT costs to ensure financial responsibility and accountability aligned with evolving business priorities.
  • Drive the development and execution of an impactful engineering strategy, incorporating methodologies, best practices, and emerging technologies to steer the company towards overall success.
  • Partner with Design, Analytics, and other product and platform teams to integrate and launch remarkable experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with senior management to drive strategic decisions, and with cross-functional teams to define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Ensure the stability and reliability of the system landscape through SLA agreements, standby organizations, and key performance indicators that measure stability and performance.
  • Lead talent management efforts, including strategic hiring, team balancing, and providing training opportunities to enhance team expertise.
  • Align engineering activities with the organizational vision, fostering a culture of continual improvement, transparency, and shared understanding.
  • Ensure engineering activities consistently contribute to the company's goals and objectives by maintaining close alignment with the organizational vision.
  • Implement and adhere to IT strategies and guidelines within the engineering organization, promoting a culture of transparency and collaboration.
  • Foster a culture of continual improvement, driving a Kaizen mindset of continuous learning and growth across all teams.
  • Collaborate with HR to establish a strong IT employer brand, attracting and retaining top talent.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to derive and execute end-to-end technical strategy and discovery, leading critical initiatives across AdTech, MarTech, Loyalty, Pricing, and Customer Data management teams.
  • Deep passion for and expertise in the consumer data and marketing space, with a strong ability to determine and prioritize what needs to be built to ensure quality customer acquisition, meaningful retention, and alignment with business and strategic goals.
  • Demonstrated track record of independently leading and managing complex consumer-facing capabilities, including Customer Data Platforms, Marketing Automation, Content Marketing, Data Analytics and Optimization, Mobile and Web Technologies, Social Media Platforms, Programmatic Media, and more.
  • Entrepreneurial and highly organized, with an ability to thrive in ambiguity and effectively facilitate alignment across cross-functional teams, driving sophisticated projects from concept to large-scale delivery.
  • 15+ years of software development experience.
  • 7+ years of experience managing and leading large engineering organizations, including teams of architects and managers.
  • Strong experience with large-scale distributed systems.
  • Excellent collaboration, negotiation, and communication skills across diverse groups.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage ambiguity effectively.
  • Experience partnering with Product Development Managers and remote teams.
  • Strong understanding of business goals and metrics, and the ability to guide teams toward achieving these goals.
  • Ability to balance big-picture thinking with attention to detail.
  • A passion for designing and building very large-scale distributed systems (nice to have).
