Job Description

We’re looking to add an experienced Engineering Manager to our Technical team. This new team member will be instrumental in leading and developing software solutions from the idea to maturity as we continue to make the retail world a better, more sustainable place.

At Nextail, we empower retailers to create better experiences while using fewer of the world's resources. Nextail’s cloud-based platform uses artificial intelligence, prescriptive analytics, and optimization to deliver agile merchandising decisions. To date, we’re backed by more than $12M in funding from leading venture capital investors and are working with global retailers like Versace, River Island, and Pepe Jeans.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a technical team, supporting them to achieve goals.

  • Enabler of communication between the product team and the engineering team.

  • Helping to improve development and delivery processes based on good practices, TDD, and SOLID principles

  • Participating in team activities on a daily basis.

  • Promote a respectful environment across all the team.

  • Motivating the team with achievable challenges.

  • Coordinating work with other managers.

  • To have a strategic and forward-looking vision for the company

  • Ensure that product execution is on track

  • Technical Advisor for the team.

  • Definition of methodology, process standardization.

  • Coordinate and oversee the technical and engineering activities.

Who you will work with:

  • Juan Avedillo (COO): over 18 years of experience in technological transformation and innovation environments back him. He went through several different roles, industries and countries as a consultant in McKinsey & Company for 9 years. He also worked in The Cocktail as the technical practices lead.

  • Beatriz Domínguez (Head of People & Process Engineering): She has been working for years with teams from different backgrounds and cares about their growth and performance. She is a firm believer in customer-centric product development. What she enjoys most about her job is helping people to be successful. Bea is currently playing a key role in Nextail's growth phase.

  • Miguel Garcia Lorenzo (Head of Engineering): With more than 10 years of experience leading technical teams in high-performance and real-time environments. He has worked in companies like Inditex, Oracle, among others. He is a believer in work based on three fundamental principles: team, architecture and automation. He enjoys sharing his knowledge through articles and conferences.

We offer:

  • High flexibility: We’re strong believers that what matters most are results. Each Nextailer is empowered, through trust and ownership, to organize their time as they see fit without jeopardizing the time or work of their colleagues.

  • Remote-first philosophy: Nextail started as a remote company and continues to offer a nice mix of remote and/or office-based environments around the world.

  • International environment: We operate across the globe, with recent operations reaching from Europe all the way to Australia, and our team alone consists of professionals of more than 15 different nationalities. While many of us are multilingual, our working language is English.

  • Diversity on all levels: United as a single team, we celebrate diversity at every dimension*. Professionally speaking, are you ready to work alongside tech geniuses, data science magicians, and fashionistas? You’ll have teammates with extensive experience in a wide variety of professional fields, including technology, retail, consulting, and entrepreneurship.

  • The laptop of your choice: We want you to work with the tools that are most comfortable for you!

  • Flexible compensation plan: We offer a fixed + variable salary as well as company equity as we progress towards our Series B fundraising round.

Requirements

First of all, we are looking for a good workmate to join the team. We value working in a safe and constructive environment where everybody can thrive over any specific technical skill.

In our team, you will also find people focused on generating an impact in the company, rather than just taking on new tasks to develop. We expect that the person who joins us is as excited about this bias towards impact and action as we are.

The requirements and valued skills for this job are:

  • Theoretical and practical experience building pipelines for technical teams.

  • Professional experience with AWS or Google Cloud or Azure.

  • Strong experience with large analytical and transactional databases.

  • Experience with software monitoring tools.

  • Experience as Software Developer

  • Project Management skills

  • Advance English level

And remember, even if you don't have some of the requirements, don't hesitate to contact and tell us what you would like to bring to the team, we are always open to the right person :)
