We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator Lead in the RIA Spain Madrid office to lead our Global DBA team in the Spain Office.  This is a MS SQL Server DBA role largely responsible for providing operational database services to the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

What You'll Do:

  • Owning, tracking, and resolving database-related incidents and requests within provided SLAs, reviewing service-related reports (e.g.: database backups, maintenance, monitoring) daily to ensure service-related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs, responding to database related alerts and escalations and working with database engineering to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems.
  • High sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.
  • The Production DBA Team is required to follow an on-site/on-call rotation including weekends to support the production environment.
  • This on-call rotation includes DBA’s from USA, Spain and Malaysia to help provide 24 by 7 coverage, and to ensure that at least 1 DBA is always on-site/on-line from each shift.
  • This position is a hybrid remote position (must be in office at least 2 times per week) and will be in the Spain DBA shift (from 9am to 5pm local Madrid time [12am to 8am PT US time]) with a rotating on-call weekend Standby schedule during the same period of 9am to 5pm local Madrid time (12am to 8am PT US time)

QUALIFICATIONS

What We're Looking For:

  • At least 4 years experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA in SQL Server 2014 and above
  • Experience with AlwaysOn Availability Groups
  • Experience with SQL Server Replication.
  • Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization using monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database issues in stability, performance and/or availability.
  • Experience with SQL Server Integration/Reporting Services.
  • Experience/knowledge of Log Shipping
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server.
  • Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.
  • Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts via TSQL or PowerShell.
  • Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations.
  • Proactive monitoring of databases both from a stability, availability, performance and capacity management perspective.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking/deadlocking issues, connectivity issues, data replication issues etc.
  • Experience with using Server Side Traces and Extended Events to help troubleshoot performance bottlenecks
  • Ability to detect, troubleshoot, and resolve database-related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space, and other resource contention issues.
  • Experience supporting and managing SQL databases in a 24x7 production environment with sizes larger than 2 TB
  • Familiarity with the release, source control, and change management principles and processes.
  • Proficiency in capturing and analyzing requirements, presenting alternative solutions, recommending the appropriate design, developing the solution to meet the requirements and exceed customer expectation and maintaining the required documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and workflow skills; ability to work on simultaneous projects with diverse working groups
  • Team player with collaborative nature
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision in operational database projects
  • 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of productivity tools and software

The salary range in California for this position is $95,000 - $110,000. Actual starting compensation may vary based upon geographic location, work experience, and skills.
