🚀 Your Role at Alinia
As a Backend Engineer at Alinia AI, you will play a foundational role in shaping the core infrastructure and backend systems powering our platform. We're building critical safety and governance infrastructure for generative AI—and as one of the first engineers, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring that our backend is fast, scalable, secure, and enterprise-ready.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup, can wear multiple hats, and wants to help define how the backend of AI-powered products should be built.
🔧 What You’ll Do
Backend Development
● Design, implement and maintain APIs, services, and integrations for Alinia’s guardrails platform.
● Ensure backend systems are scalable, reliable, and optimized for enterprise workloads.
● Support multi-tenant, secure SaaS and VPC/on-prem deployments.
● Implement security best practices and support compliance with frameworks like SOC 2 and ISO 27001
● Collaborate with ML engineers to productionize AI models and guardrails.
Infrastructure, DevOps & Reliability
● Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and alerting for backend services.
● Manage cloud infrastructure and optimize spend, balancing performance and cost
● Collaborate with technical vendors, AI providers, and cloud platforms on integrations and deployments
● Triage and resolve backend bugs or incidents, especially those affecting customer experience
Cross-functional Collaboration
● Work closely with product and front-end engineers, translating user and product needs into scalable backend architecture
● Support post-sales technical implementation and onboarding for enterprise customers.
● Implement security best practices and support compliance with frameworks like SOC 2 and ISO 27001
🧠 What You Bring
Required Skills & Experience
● 3–5+ years of backend engineering experience, with solid understanding of backend infrastructure, including deployment, CI/CD, observability, and debugging.
● Strong Proficiency with Python (FastAPI, Flask, Django) and RESTful API design.
● SQL/NoSQL database experience (e.g., PostgreSQL).
● Experience with containerization & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
● Familiarity with Cloud deployment (AWS/GCP/Azure).
● DevOps experience and mindset: build, monitor, fix, and improve continuously.
● SRE experience.
● Clear communicator and cross-functional collaborator.
Bonus Points (Preferred)
● Experience supporting VPC or on-prem enterprise deployments.
● Experience with distributed systems and high performing systems.
● Experience working with or integrating LLM inference pipelines.
● Background in regulated industries (finance, insurance, healthcare).
● Previous experience with data security and privacy practices (encryption, IAM, logging, privacy-by-design) and compliance in an enterprise SaaS context.
● Understanding of compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO/IEC 42001, GDPR, ISO 27001).
