Job Description

We are looking for a Backend Engineer for our functional squads who loves learning new things and facing new challenges but we also value it if you have some deep experience in specific topics such as design systems, scalability, XP practices, web development, etc.


At Nextail, you will be part of a cross-functional and autonomous team where you will lead the frontend development of the new modules of our Product. You will collaborate with Product and Design people to build the best user experience for our customers. We love developers with a strong Product and Agile mindset who values good technical practices. Developers who are eager to learn new things and face new challenges of usability and scalability. Developers who enjoy staying close to Production, doing continuous deployment with special care on quality.


We are a remote company, but you can also work in Madrid offices. At the moment, we are only seeking candidates in Europe (UTC+02:00 or similar).

You will be part of one of our functional teams and your goals will be focused on:


  • Building market-first solutions for retailers. Our teams work to solve the problems faced by retailers by helping them make decisions. Whether by better data analytics or by automating decision processes.
  • Reach better solutions through multidisciplinary teams. Product Managers, Developers, Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Data Engineers, and Business Experts work together to solve end-to-end problems.
  • Your job will not be finished when the end-to-end solution is in production, or after the change management and operational details are closed, not even when we have strong evidence that the solution is solving the user problem and she is satisfied because after that we continue monitoring and working in improving our solutions.
  • Discussion between pairs, working together, and challenging each other, is the fastest way to solve a problem. We have a culture of sharing, transparency, meritocracy, caring, and trusting each other. When developing, we always consider providing maximum value to our users.

The requirements and valued skills for this job are:


  • Large background as a Backend Developer building complex products and working as a part of a cross-functional team
  • Solid experience with Python or Java. We don't discriminate by frameworks, we are looking for the right kind of person, even if you have to transition to other technologies.

  • Knowledge and interest in design patterns, SOLID, Hexagonal Architecture; everything related to software architecture and design.

  • Knowledge and experience applying good development practices like TDD, CI/CD, etc.

  • Experience working in fast-paced product-oriented startups.

  • Being a team player with strong skills of collaboration and initiative

  • Proficiency in English
