OCS is seeking to hire a technical product owner to join our team and lead the delivery of our products.

As a technical product owner, you will be responsible for managing the backlog of the development team as well as working hand in hand with the team and the team lead to deliver the required functionalities. As a technical product owner, you’ll have a knack for understanding technical concepts as well as the ability to coordinate with stakeholders and extract and refine the backlog to a high level of detail. You will be comfortable both talking to developers and to stakeholders in their appropriate level as well as explaining technical concepts.

You will be responsible for coordinating with stakeholders to extract user requirements, refine and prioritise the backlog, including writing functional and non-functional requirements, in advance as well as tracking the execution by the development team. As part of your role you, together with the team, you will track estimations and work, coordinate with the team and report to the engineering manager in a comprehensive way.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To create and maintain the backlog for the development team by understanding and writing down requirements from the stakeholders.
  • To write high quality detailed PBIs (product backlog items) defining the functional and non-functional requirements of the product, including acceptance criteria.
  • To ensure the PBIs (product backlog items) are refined in advanced and with enough information for the development team to pick them up.
  • To prioritise the backlog according to business value and stakeholder needs and timelines and to understand the delivery timelines as well as the team speed.
  • To participate in all agile meetings (standup, planning, refinement, etc) and to help the team understand the business and stake holder needs.
  • To liaise with the stakeholders and the department manager on the current requirements, progress and risks.
  • To be the product and user reference within the team, representing them on the project delivery.
  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years experience as a product owner, managing a product backlog and delivery and working with development teams.
  • Extensive experience and a familiarity with full stack web development, nuances and characteristics including best practices.
  • Extensive experience with issue management systems (Azure Devops or JIRA), organization and functionalities of the tools, management and administration.
  • Extensive experience using SCRUM and Kanban processes.
  • Fluent English and outstanding communication skills (written and oral) especially in understanding requirements and explaining technical or complex concepts.
  • Extensive experience with Agile Practices and the tools involved in them.
  • A proactive and get things done attitude.
  • A leadership attitude and the ability to guide team members.
  • Extensive experience extracting user requirements into user stories and writing user stories for developer.
  • Experience working with a team of developers and QA in an agile way to deliver the product within the schedule and with top class quality.
  • Experience handling a team and running through a planning, refinement or retrospective session.
  • Knowledge of architectural and technical concepts (API types, Web technologies, Backend technologies, etc.).
  • Desirable experience delivering solutions to the cloud (any cloud provider).
  • Desirable experience with approval processes on Mobile App Stores.

  • This is a remote freelance opportunity with an initial contract of 1 year, to keep extending.
  • Available to travel occasionally (10%) if required by immediate Supervisor.
