The Role

We're looking for a hands-on Senior Backend Engineer who is obsessed with building great software. Someone who thrives in startup environments, loves solving hard problems 🧠, and takes pride in writing clean, scalable, reliable code.

You'll work across multiple parts of the platform, influence core architecture decisions 🏗️, and collaborate closely with product and founders. Your work will shape how thousands of salespeople understand their performance and compensation.


What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain backend services that power Dolfin's compensation engine ⚙️

  • Own complex features end-to-end, from architecture to delivery 🛣️

  • Work with large datasets 💾 and optimize performance-critical queries

  • Collaborate with product, frontend, and data to shape roadmap and execution 🤝

  • Improve the reliability, scalability, and observability of our systems 📈

  • Contribute to a strong engineering culture built on ownership, clarity, and craftsmanship ✨

Required Skills

  • Strong experience building and maintaining backend systems

  • Excellent SQL skills — query design, optimization, data modeling 🔍

  • Solid understanding of backend architecture, APIs, services, and scaling

  • Comfortable working autonomously and making technical decisions 🧭


Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, OR equivalent practical experience demonstrating strong CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, architecture, etc.)

Nice to Have

  • Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, or serverless architectures

  • Familiarity with compensation, financial systems, or analytics platforms

  • Experience with Supabase, PostgreSQL, or distributed systems ☁️
